EU Study Exhibition Comes to Kyiv on 12-14 November 2015

06/11/2015

On 12-14 November the European Commission will participate with a special ‘Study in Europe’ stand in the ‘Education Abroad Fair’ in Kyiv. For the fourth time it is to showcase the opportunities in European higher education. The exhibition will take place in the National Centre of Business and Culture Cooperation ‘Ukrainian House’. This 2015 edition is an opportunity to present the new EU academic cooperation and research programmes: Erasmus+ and Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions.

Europe is the top destination for foreign students, hosting 48% of the 4.5 million students who study outside their home countries each year. To date the EU has funded scholarships for more than 1800 Ukrainian students and academics either within the integrated degree programmes - Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees and Joint Doctorates - or the shorter-term mobility provided by university partnerships. Ukrainian institutions are also involved in 94 Tempus projects including 33 projects selected for financing in 2013, supporting capacity building and modernisation of higher education institutions and systems.

Within the exhibition three ‘Study in Europe’ conferences will be held, including:

- November 12 (Thursday)

- 12.00 to 12.30: “Opportunities on Mobility for Students and Staff as Individuals under Erasmus+”

Presentation by Svetlana Shytikova, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine.

- 12.30 to 13.00: Marie Sklodowska Curie actions: Possibilities, results, new calls”

13.00 to 13.45: “Opportunities for cooperation on mobility and capacity building for higher education institutions under Erasmus+”

The discussion will be moderated by former graduates Aleksandra Lysak and Artem Remizov.

- November 14 (Friday) 11.30 – 12.30 & 15.00 – 16.00: “Talk with Erasmus Mundus student alumni: how to get a scholarship, what is it like to study in the EU and much more.”

Presentation by Erasmus Mundus Association

The 'Study in Europe stand' is organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture, with the active support of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, the National Information Centre on cooperation between the EU and Ukraine in Science and Technology together with the Erasmus Mundus Student & Alumni Association.

Since 2014, the EU brings all existing international higher education programmes under a single roof, Erasmus+, offering more opportunities for cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries. The first Erasmus+ call covering the 3 actions open to institutions from Ukraine – joint degrees, credit mobility and capacity-building has been published in October 2014 for the projects starting in the next academic year.

Erasmus+ also continues grants for students from Eastern Partnership countries to participate in excellent joint Master programmes or in shorter-term mobility at a partner institution in the EU. Doctoral fellowships will be financed by the new Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions, part of the new Horizon 2020 programme for research and innovation. Erasmus+ will support the modernisation of higher education institutions, as well as systems and staff development in partner countries.
